It’s Pony hair. Don’t stare.

Opening Ceremony recently decided to feature themselves as the store’s ‘featured designer’. Cheekiness of that choice aside, they do have a couple of very interesting things in their AW10 collection, including these pony desert boots. This style has been doing the rounds for a few seasons now – so you should have had all your jokes by now – and this version is probably the most suited for a pair of indigo denim. Opening Ceremony makes sure to cover you on all fronts. Their latest cooperative project involves umbrella maker Guy de Jean. Together with OC they worked on 2 styles – a round umbrella and a squared umbrella. Both are now available from the Opening Ceremony online store.

Studded up.

Opening Ceremony has collaborated with Alexander Wang. The result is a studded black canvas tote bag. It comes with leather bottom and in two versions – one with silver studs and the other one with gold studs. Both are now available online here.

I’m kicking new Flava in your ear…

Levi’s previews a few pieces from their forthcoming collaborative collection with Opening Ceremony. The line is heavy on corduroy with shirts, jackets, cutoffs, and pants in a selection of pop colors including pink, lavender, dusty blue and curry (pictured above). All items are Made in The USA, based on the 505 Levi’s jean. The collection hits select Levi’s and Opening Ceremony shops beginning February 9th.

Rabbit Fur…

The upcoming children’s book to movie adaptation Where The Wild Things Are by Spike Jonze continues on a high-profile route as this time around, Opening Ceremony gets involved in an exclusive collection. In some instances a very literal take on the movie’s aesthetic is exercised leading to some costume-like creations with a further follow-up of jewelry provided by Pamela Love. Available at Opening Ceremony on September 28th.

A highlight out of Opening Ceremony and their latest seasonal range includes two sweater variations in the form of the Shawl Collar Cardigan. With the increasing popularity of shawl collars in general, the two pieces include speckled gray/blue and a more colorful Navajo-esque version. Available now at End.

With the opening of their new Tokyo store, Opening Ceremony is on fire these days. Just last week we reported about their Jeremy Scott t-shirt collaboration. Here now a first look at their work with Gitman Brothers and with Billykirk.

With Gitman Brothers they of course worked on some shirts and just as expected, they created something a little different. “As they admit to taking pride in their Made in the USA label, we wanted to do something special to include them in our Tokyo celebration. That’s where these dyed shirts come in. Hand dip-dyed by our designers, these button downs are part of an extremely limited capsule collection available exclusively at Opening Ceremony Tokyo.”

Together with leather accessories brand Billykirk, Opening Ceremony worked on a series of bags, wallets and keychains. The line-up includes duffle bags, weekenders and messenger bags. Furthermore they complete the collaboration with a small series of wallets and keychains. Unlike the regular Billykirk collection, these Opening Ceremony specials feature a lot more color.

Shoulder lean

We’ve featured an OC sweater before, but we thought we should bring this one to your attention. What we like about this piece is that it’s got a hint of the nautical trend, but not so much that we look like off duty sailors. The oat colour is a nice break from the navy blues that are more prevalent now and the shoulder zip is nice touch. A useless one, but nice nonetheless. Did we mention it’s half price? Sale alert! There have been a few sales starting up around town, but Opening Ceremony’s sale is the first proper – as in not those silly ‘private’ sales – one by an online retailer. We liked OC when it was full price, so having prices halved makes everything that much more desirable. Take this nautical-flavoured jumper for instance. It’d go great on those annoying days where it’s sunny, but not quite warm enough to just wear a shirt. Get it from Opening Ceremony.
