The first step is deciding what kind of cake you want to create your custom box out of. What kind of cake do you want to create? There are several options when it comes to assembling a cake box. You could go with a simple one-layer cake, which would mean cutting just one layer from a boxed cake mix. Or, you could use a three-layer cake, which means making two layers from boxed cake mixes and one from scratch. You may even choose to make four layers, where each layer is made from a different type of cake. For example, one layer could be vanilla sponge with buttercream frosting, another could be chocolate cake with raspberry filling, and so on. Whichever method you decide to use, know that it’s possible to make any number of layers using this process. The only limitation is your imagination!

Once you’ve decided what kind of cake you’re going to create your custom box out of, it’s time to get started. Here’s what you’ll need for building your box:

– Cake board

– Batter bowl (if using)

– Small spatula

– Plastic wrap

– Paper towels

– Scissors

– Cutting mat

– Large knife

– Box cutter

– Pliers

– Ruler

– Pencils

– Parchment paper

– Airtight container

If you don’t already have all these items, you might want to purchase them ahead of time because they may not be available at all stores.

Now it’s time to build your box. Start by placing your parchment paper inside of an airtight container. Once the parchment is inside the container, close the lid securely and label it with the name of the cake you’re creating the box out of. Next, cut off a piece of the parchment paper large enough to cover the entire bottom of the container. Now, remove the cake board from its packaging and place it upside down on top of the parchment paper.

Now, carefully position the cake board inside of the container. Make sure that you leave room around the edges of the board so that you can easily access all areas of the board without having to move the board itself. Place the board back into the container and secure it in place with tape, or use plastic ties or ribbon to tie it in place.

Place the batter bowl underneath the board and fill it with your batter. Using a medium spatula, spread the batter evenly across the surface of the cake board. Once the batter has been applied, cover it with plastic wrap. Then place the board back into the container, securing it again with tape, or use plastic ties.

To complete the cake, take the large knife and gently slice off a portion of the cake board. Leave about 2 1/2 inches remaining on the board. Now, turn over the board so that the exposed side is facing up. Carefully remove the excess cake that is still attached to the board. Next, trim away any excess icing around the sides of the board.

Next, cut a circle out of the center of the board that is larger than the size of the cake you are creating. You should end up with a ring that is approximately 1 inch wide. Remove the ring and set aside. Use the ruler to measure and mark 3 1/4 inches inward from the edge of the board.

Using the box cutter, slice through the marked line. Now, lift up the board and slice through both the top and bottom of the cake board. Discard the piece that was sliced off.

Slice the circle into four pieces. Each piece should be 4 1/2 inches wide. Set the cut circle aside.

Using the ruler, measure and mark 5 1/2 inches inward from the original measurement. Cut through the marked line. This will be the base of the box, and you should end up with a square shape. Now, place the cut circle onto the base, and press firmly into place.

Measure and mark 6 inches inward from the outer edges of the circle. These marks will represent the height of the box. Using the ruler, mark 1 1/2 inches vertically downward from the top of the box. Next, mark 3 inches horizontally outward from the right-hand side of the box.

Slice along the marked lines to form two triangles. Then, cut off the extra triangle shapes and discard them.

Using the pencil, draw two parallel lines that are 2 inches apart. Starting at the left-hand corner of the box, draw a vertical line down to the horizontal line that you drew earlier. Repeat this procedure on the other side of the box.

With the box upside down, use the scissors to cut out two rectangular shaped openings. Be careful to cut exactly between the parallel lines you drew earlier.

Holding the box upside down, place it on the center of the cake board. Remove the cardboard piece that was placed under the board a few moments ago. Now, slowly lower the box until it rests firmly against the board.

Use the pliers to attach the metal wire handles to the corners of the box. To prevent the cake from sliding around while you are working, add more tape to the corners of the box. Once you have completed attaching the handles, you can now enjoy your beautifully finished cake box!
