To lose a pound a week, you would need to shave 500 calories a day from that total which would be 25% or more of what you are consuming currently. To increase the rate of weight loss to two pounds a week by diet alone, the cut in calories would require a 1,000 calorie a day reduction which would be 50% or greater of what an average woman consumes which isn’t really practical. Adding 500 calories of increased activity is an option but you may be surprised as to how much additional moderate-intensity exercise is required. Do you have an extra hour per day to exercise?
